Arsenal youngster Eddie Nketiah is set to return to the club in January due to the Gunners’ unhappiness with his loan spell at Leeds United.
The highly-rated youngster moved to Elland Road on a season-long loan deal last summer after Unai Emery decided his best chance of first team football was elsewhere.
However, Nketiah has managed just one start in the Championship as Marcelo Bielsa has favoured Patrick Bamford instead.
Leeds remain keen on keeping the forward but Arsenal see little value in letting him sit on the bench and will recall him on January 1st, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Nketiah has still managed to bag five goals from his 17 appearances from the bench but his only start came in Leeds’ 5-4 win against Birmingham at St Andrews on December 29th.
The Gunners have managed just 26 goals in 20 matches so far this term and have a goal difference of -4.
It’s unclear what Arsenal’s intentions are for Nketiah over the remainder of the season but he could stay for the rest of January before being loaned out again.
Arsenal’s Europa League campaign restarts and they face Leeds in the FA Cup in early January, though Nketiah would be ineligible in any case.
