Mikel Arteta looked on course to earn his first victory as Arsenal manager, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s opener keeping them in front until the 83rd minute but then disaster struck.
Leno attempted to claim a cross from Mason Mount, completely misjudged the ball and allowed Jorginho to tap home unmarked from two yards out.

A late winner from Tammy Abraham saw Frank Lampard’s Chelsea claim all three points, leaving Arsenal in the bottom half of the table and 11 points behind the Blues in the fourth and final Champions League qualification spot.
Their hopes of securing a spot in Europe’s premier competition through the Premier League look slim and Leno couldn’t hide his disappointment in his role in their late collapse.
He posted on social media: ‘Very tough day today😒 but I have to look forward 💪🏽’
Leno will hope to put things right in Arsenal’s next match against Manchester United on New Year’s Day.
