Kate Ferdinand has opened up about her relationship with husband Rio Ferdinand’s kids, crediting them with helping her overcome her body issues.
Rio is a dad to Lorenz, 13, Tate, 11, and Tia, eight, his kids with his late wife Rebecca Ellison, who he married in 2009.
Rebecca sadly died of breast cancer in 2015 at the age of 35.
Speaking to Fabulous, Kate, 27, described her body journey, admitting: ‘Ever since I was a teenager I’ve been fighting this internal battle with body dysmorphia.
‘I’ve always thought I looked bad and it’s only in the last two years I have been able to rethink what’s important and what isn’t.
‘I’ve learned to accept myself, but it’s been a hell of a journey. And I’m still on it. I still have bad days, but I never thought I would get to this point…’
‘I feel like Rio and the kids were a massive part in all of this, ‘ she added. ‘I’m now a mum and after everything they’ve been through in their lives, me worrying about my cellulite really isn’t the top of the list anymore.’

Kate also spoke about her self-image in an interview with MailOnline earlier this year, as she noted: ‘In all honesty, I am not as confident as I probably appear [online]. I have days like every girl when I feel rubbish about myself and literally eat everything in my treat cupboard!
‘But then there are days when I feel really good and that’s probably when you will see an outfit post on Instagram.’
