The pair – who married in June last year – chose to live in separate homes as they built their dream barn for their menagerie of animals, which seemed to perplex many. It’s 2019 peeps, hop aboard.
Now in the latest episode of the actor’s Instagram video series A Cup Of Cuoco, the actor has opened up on spending time away from her partner as he went on a family hiking trip.
And because she is the oracle of all things wise and true, Kaley insisted it was ‘good’ for their relationship to do things apart and live their own lives and hot diggity dog we have to agree with her.
Kaley said they initially decided she would stay behind to move them into their new home. However, to be fair, we’d think of a few reasons to get out of a hiking trip around Christmas. Mince pies and 10 mile-a-day walks just don’t work for us.
‘Karl is on a hiking vacation with his family in Patagonia, how crazy is that?’ she told viewers on Sunday. ‘I actually had the opportunity to go myself but I planned a while ago to stay home, since this is my only few weeks off from work, and move us into the new house…’
She continued: ‘I’m not a big hiker so I think Karl would probably enjoy this trip more without me. I hope not, but I think he will.
‘I think we made the right decision.’
Kaley said: ‘I think its ok to do separate things like that. I think it’s really good for your relationship. He’s having a great time and I’d probably would have held him back on those hikes anyway.’
And now, as she noted, she has ‘a view of a bunch of dogs and horses which I think is what my heart and soul really needed’ and we can only agree even more so there.
‘I’m glad I’m taking this time to relax and spend it with the horses and dogs and “sleeping in til 7 on a Sunday”,’ she continued.
‘Life is good, no complaints.’
While it’s clear the pair is very much loved-up, Kaley has long spoken about her separate living arrangements with Karl, over a year after they married.
During an appearance on The View earlier this year, she told the panel: ‘I don’t know why it’s so interesting for people to talk about.
‘I made headlines saying that we don’t live together yet. And people went crazy. They couldn’t believe it.
‘Because of work and his business and his horses are a few hours away from where I was currently living…’
She continued: ‘We’re actually building our house together right now. We just haven’t been under the same roof.
‘But by the way, it’s been working great and we love it. We love it, so I don’t know why people have such an issue.’
Last month she added in a chat with pal Brad Goreski: ‘I have the best relationship with Karl. We are so happy and yes… we have separate lives and then our lives come together and he’s so supportive of me. He lets me be me and I let him be him. We decided early on.’

Living apart only seemed to have cemented Kaley’s big dreams about the future plans for her farm as she explained of their aspirations: ‘My biggest dream was to actually build a mini barn – it’s a direct replica of our large barn – because Karl and I have taken in so many mini animals, which is hilarious so we’re building a mini barn and it’s literally going to be miniature size.
‘My vision is I would love to start a non-profit for these little guys and have school field trips. It’s going to be built for kids. It’s literally built for the height of kids. It will be like a little rescue petting zoo. That is my true little dream.’
Clearly the dream is working for them!
